Projects
Software built with Norscode: a helpdesk for businesses, a platform for safe deployment, and editor support for VS Code.
Norscode is not just a language – it is used to build real services. Here are the projects written in Norscode, from runtime to user interface. The site you are reading this on is one of them.
Norscode Helpdesk
Coming soon.
A complete case-management system for businesses, written 100 % in Norscode – with no Java, JavaScript or JSON anywhere in the stack. Data is stored as Norscode lines, and the whole application runs on the nc runtime.
Case handling. Cases are organised per group and register. Agents update status, priority and internal notes directly in the workspace, and customers have their own page with cases, messages and document uploads.
Vehicle register. Registration number, details, documents and linked cases in one place – built for businesses that work with vehicles.
AI that assists, not takes over. A troubleshooting guide and case suggestions support the agent along the way.
Ten languages. Navigation and workspace are available in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, French, German and Polish.
One installation, many customers. Each customer gets its own subdomain and fully separate directories for data, uploads and backups.
Security from the ground up. HTTPS only, a strict Content-Security-Policy, HSTS, and secrets that never live in code or data – they are supplied by the operating environment. Deployment runs through Gateway (below).
Helpdesk is being rolled out and launches when the production environment is ready. If you are interested, get in touch.
Gateway
The platform that deploys and operates Norscode services – including this website and Helpdesk.
Gateway is a single login-protected entry point to several servers. You upload a project or a project manifest, choose the target server, and Gateway places the delivery in a controlled queue. The production key is isolated in a separate, root-isolated control service and is never exposed to the app itself. The control service signs the queue ID, project, target server and the package checksum; a worker verifies the signature, allows only regular files and directories, and unpacks as an unprivileged user. If the health check fails after publishing, the delivery is rolled back automatically.
Gateway also keeps an inventory of every Norscode app on the server – state, process and port – and can start, stop and restart them, with safety rules that mean it can never stop its own entry point.
The user interface is fully server-rendered, with no JavaScript. Gateway runs at gateway.norscode.no and requires login.
Norscode for VS Code
Editor support for Norscode in Visual Studio Code: syntax highlighting for .no files, language configuration for comments, brackets and auto-closing, snippets for common constructs, and dedicated file icons.
The language server (LSP) is provided by the runtime itself through nc lsp – the extension contains no logic of its own in JavaScript. It is the same principle as elsewhere in Norscode: the language stands on its own feet. The extension lives in the Norscode source tree as vscode-norscode (version 0.2.0).
All the projects build on the same runtime and capability model described under What is Norscode, and use the standard library instead of external dependencies. Follow the news for updates on launches and new projects.
